Happy New Year! I hope all of you toasted your way into 2012 with good friends and fun times.
There are a lot of deer where I live, and a lot of hills and mountains. I love the feeling at sunrise on a crisp, clear morning: the quiet reflection and the hopeful anticipation. The same feeling as beginning a new year.

For this wallpaper, I got the basic shapes down in Illustrator and then copied them over to Photoshop. I went back and forth between the two, drawing patterns in Illustrator and pasting them as smart objects into Photoshop. Illustrator is much easier to work with when experimenting with composition, creating vector shapes or scalable brushwork, but Photoshop is definitely the program of choice when it comes to effects, filters, and masking.
