Game Jam Art for 360iDev 2013

The theme for the Game Jam this year has four components: motorcycles, toilets, castles, and happy people possibly having a party (?). I have no idea how anyone’s going to combine all of those!

Even though Ray and I don’t have the time to participate in the game jam this year, I wanted to create a bit of art for anyone doing the game jam who has no art or artist to work with! I hope some of you find it useful, even if it’s a bit of a limited selection.

In the zip file, you’ll find pngs of the following images, as well as the illustrator file they were created with. Feel free to resize, recolor, and do whatever you like with all of it!

Good luck with the game jam everyone!

Number & Punctuation Tiles

free game art number tiles punctuation

Tiles with numbers and punctuation marks to complete the set!

You’ve seen these wooden tiles before, with both uppercase letters and lowercase letters, but recently numbers were requested. Now there’s a complete set! At least until you guys ask for more… :]

Also included are some punctuation marks, to make the wooden tile set even more flexible in what you use it for. I’ve seen these used as traditional scrabble-style game pieces and spelling buttons, but they’ve also been used in menus and titles.

Remember that if you need a blank tile, or a really large tile (for an app icon, perhaps?), go find it in the original letter tile pack.

Game Pack Contents

  • numbers 0-9, as well as the punctuation marks seen in the below image
  • 2 versions of each tile (different wood grain, for variety)
  • Three sizes: 67 pixels square, 134 pixels, and 268 pixels. Pick the one closest to what you need, and resize from there.

My birthday is today, so here’s a gift for you: free icons to use in your games and apps that need a pinch of summer in them!

Summer Icons for Apps and Games!

free game art summer icons

For your summertime fun!

Ideas for using these icons:

  • memory-game matching items
  • character or item icons in a list
  • add them to your game scene

What’s Included

You get the ten icons shown above as PNGs: sun, beach ball, swim shorts, bikini, pail and shovel, surfboard, fruity drink, sunglasses, flip flops, and ice cream.

You get each PNG in the following sizes:

  • 100×100 pixels
  • 400×400 pixels
  • 1024×1024 pixels
  • 2000×2000 pixels

This should allow you to use them in a variety of ways, as thumbnail images all the way up to app icons. Just choose the size closest to what you need (larger than the size you need), and resize it to fit your app.

Enjoy!

Flying Turbo Fish

A flying fish!

This art pack was created by Holly Jensen, who is currently accepting contracting jobs for mobile apps and games! You can contact her at hollytales@comcast.net, or check out her portfolio at http://hollyjensen.carbonmade.com.

There have been several requests for more art for side-scrolling games, especially characters with jet packs!

Holly loved that idea, and came up with a cool goldfish character that escapes his pond and goes for a jaunt.

He’s got turbo jetpacks to fly around with, enemies and objects to avoid, and even coins and bonuses to collect!

You’ll also find a repeatable background with an alternate variation, as well as background objects to add randomly to create more variation within the levels. Read on to see the whole pack!
